A grid of holes, then a clamp in any one
A bench top drilled with a grid of dog holes holds work anywhere on its surface. The dog hole guide drills that grid square: extension rails set the first row from the edge without measuring, and position pins in the last holes set the next, at spacings from 64 to 256 mm.
Pick the hole size first and keep it: the guide comes for 20 mm dogs, common on MFT-style tops, or 3/4 in dogs. The bench dog clamp has a 3/4 in rod, so it goes with the 3/4 in grid, and it holds stock up to 1-3/4 in thick under soft pads.
These jigs come from drill guides and clamps and sharpening in the GOINGMAKE jig line.
