Description

A bookcase side needs two straight columns of shelf pin holes. They must match the other side exactly, or the shelves rock. The Shelf Pin Jig drills seven 1/4 in holes at one placement, 32 mm (about 1-1/4 in) apart, through seven hardened drill guides that keep each hole straight.

Set the edge offset first: 37, 50 or 64 mm from the front or back edge. Drill the seven holes, drop the locating pin into the last one, and slide the jig down for the next seven. Run the same sequence on the opposite side from the same edge, and every shelf sits level on its four pins.

Taller cabinets go faster with two or more jigs joined end to end, drilling a longer column per placement. The kit comes with two 1/4 in bits and a wrench, so the first side can start straight out of the box. Spare holes cost nothing, so drill the full height and decide the shelf spacing later.

Questions

Questions about the GOINGMAKE Shelf Pin Jig, 1/4 in

Which edge offset should you set on the GOINGMAKE shelf pin jig?

The jig offers 37, 50 and 64 mm. Use the same offset from the same edge on both cabinet sides so the pins line up. Our drilling jigs guide covers the layout.

Can you drill 5 mm shelf pin holes with the GOINGMAKE 1/4 in jig?

This jig and its bits are 1/4 in. For 5 mm pins, choose our Shelf Pin Jig, 1/4 in and 5 mm, which drills either size through hardened guides.

A bit that catches spins the stock in your hand. Clamp the work, and collect the dust the bit throws.
