Description
Description
Hanging a new interior door starts with hinge mortises that must match the ones in the frame. The Door Hinge Mortise Jig clamps to the door edge and guides your router around a template you set to the hinge length, anywhere from 2-1/2 to 5 in. Brass nuts lock the template once it is set.
Round-corner hinges with a 1/4 or 5/8 in radius come straight off the router. Square-corner hinges need a chisel to finish the corners. Its depth gauge has two settings: one for thick hinges of 4-1/2 and 5 in, and one for thin hinges of 2-1/2, 3, 3-1/2 and 4 in. Doors up to 1-3/4 in thick fit.
A one-hand clamp rides on two guide rods for even pressure along the door, and a non-slip pad protects the face. The self-centering bit drills the screw holes in the middle of each hinge hole, and the screwdriver bit drives the screws. The body is aluminum with an anodized surface.

Questions
Questions about the GOINGMAKE Door Hinge Mortise Jig
Will the GOINGMAKE door hinge jig fit your exterior door?
It fits doors up to 1-3/4 in thick and hinges from 2-1/2 to 5 in long. Its depth gauge has a setting for thick 4-1/2 and 5 in hinges, the kind heavier doors carry.
Can you rout square-corner hinge mortises with the GOINGMAKE jig?
The router leaves round corners at 1/4 or 5/8 in radius. For square-corner hinges, finish the four corners with a chisel after routing, and the rest of the mortise is already at depth.
Hinge cups are drilled and hinge mortises are routed: both go best with the work clamped and your eyes covered.
